Responder Wipes X-Large 12"x24" Cleansing Wipes (15 Pack) - RWCC
Responder Wipes are developed for firefighters and are uniquely formulated with Micellar Water, an innovative ingredient with cleansing compounds that dissolves dirt, oil, soot, and other hydrocarbons. Micelles gently lift away toxins and contaminants, and draw out impurities from pores while hydrating your skin more effectively than traditional cleansing wipes.
Responder Wipes are applicable not only for structure fires, but car fires, dumpster fires, and any other fires where smoke and soot are present. They will remove dirt, oil, and soot from the face, ears, neck, jaw, throat, arms, underarms, wrists, hands, and any other contaminated area after an event.
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death for firefighters and they have statistically higher rates of multiple types of cancers than the general population. There has been an increasing amount of epidemiological evidence linking occupational exposures from firefighting to various forms of cancer including:
- Testicular cancer
- Multiple myeloma
- Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
- Skin cancer
- Prostate cancer
- Lung cancer
- Malignant melanoma
- Brain cancer
- Breast cancer
Research has shown that most of it is caused by carcinogens they are exposed to through soot particulates which are inhaled, ingested, and absorbed through their skin. The permeability of skin rises 400% with every 5 degree increase in temperature; therefore, the carcinogens that are in the soot are being absorbed quickly into their skin, particularly along the face, jawline, neck, and wrists where the skin is most permeable.
Remove the Risk
It has long been a “badge of honor” to be covered with soot, “proof” that the firefighter was not afraid to be on the front lines. However, scientific studies have shown that soot is a group-one carcinogen and that these toxicants can cause cancer long after the firefighter has completed overhaul and left the fire scene. It is often 2 hours or more before firefighters are able to get back to the station to fully decontaminate; therefore utilizing some sort of decontamination system while on scene is critical.
Responder Wipes are uniquely formulated to effectively decontaminate firefighters while still on scene and should be used to remove as much soot as possible from the face, ears, neck, jaw, throat, arms, underarms, wrists, hands, and all other contaminated areas. The firefighter cancer risk is no longer a dirty little secret. Be part of the cultural change and Remove the Risk with Responder Wipes.
About – Responder Wipes’ founding team includes a fire chief who had witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of cancer in the Fire Service Industry, and recognized a need for action. Through conversations with a private industry colleague familiar with Fire Rescue needs, the team set out to learn why cancer had become the second leading cause of death for firefighters, and what steps could be taken to protect firefighters.
After testing out various wipes available the market, they found that nothing truly met the needs of the firefighters. Among the products offered, they found consistent issues: formulations weren’t effective at removing harmful soot, inadequate packaging caused wipes to dry out quickly, products were inappropriately sized and lacked durability. Nothing available on the market was effective at protecting firefighters from risk while still on scene.
The team devoted time to researching and developing a product to fully meet these needs. In 2016, Responder Wipes was born.
