Auto Extrication
This class will be accomplished through a mix of classroom and hands on training. Students will learn the basics of vehicle extrication. Topics will include scene and vehicle size-up, stabilization, glass management, securing power to the vehicle and extrication techniques.
Engine Company Operations
This class will focus on the basics of engine company operations. Selecting, stretching and advancing the first line. Students will receive instruction in working with different hose lays, nozzles and how to stretch and advance lines effectively with available staffing.
Forcible Entry
This class will cover the basics of forcible entry. The class will be a mixture of class room and hands of training. Techniques for conventional and thru-the-lock forcible entry will be covered. Students will learn TTL techniques to defeat common locks with little damage to the door. In addition, students will apply the techniques they learned in the classroom to size-up and defeat inward and outward swinging doors.
Ladder Company Operations
This class will cover the basics of ladder company operations. Students will receive instruction in CFE, search, victim removal, ventilation, and ground laddering techniques.
Not-So-Technical-Rescue Operations
This class will focus on utilizing equipment found on engine and ladder companies to mitigate incidents commonly viewed as "Technical Rescue" including:
- Basic knots and webbing
- Lifting and stabilizing
- Moving patients vertically in a stokes basket
- Removing civilians and firefighter utilizing ladder and basic mechanical advantage.
