Enough talk . . .
Enough awareness training . . .
Let’s get to work on preventing suicide in the fire service.
Product Description

Join us for dynamic presentations on contemporary, effective strategies to reduce suicide risk. Participants will learn about the development and efficacy of model programs throughout the US. The presenters will also provide models of actionable steps to use personally or professionally.

Meet the presenters:

Paul Bearce retired from the fire service after serving Rio Ranch Fire and Rescue for 25 years. He began as volunteer firefighter/EMT, became full-time, and worked through the ranks to Chief of the department that serves New Mexico’s third largest city. In his tenure, he developed a passion for behavioral health issues and helped to establish RRFR’s peer support team. Currently he serves as the Chair of the New Mexico Suicide Prevention Coalition, teaches behavioral health initiatives for various organizations across the country, and is enjoying retirement by learning the importance of self-care.

Greg Flynn has served the West Bloomfield Fire Department since 1998 advancing through the ranks to his current role as Fire Chief. He is a leading advocate for firefighter mental health and suicide prevention, supporting statewide initiatives like the Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs' Yellow Rose Campaign. His graduate research at the Naval Postgraduate School focused on how organizational culture influences firefighter well-being. He is a National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program graduate and holds degrees in Public Safety Studies and Homeland Security.

Kellie O’Dare is a dedicated researcher, educator, and advocate with expertise in first responder health and wellness, health policy, and organizational resilience. As the Founder and Director of the 2nd Alarm Project and Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Management with the Institute of Public Health at Florida A&M University, Dr. O’Dare has led innovative initiatives to support the mental health and resilience of first responders and their families. She is the niece of Shawn T. O’Dare, firefighter/paramedic killed in the Line of Duty in Miami-Dade County, and the spouse of a current Florida professional firefighter/paramedic.
